Wistmans wood, Dartmoor National Park, Devon, England, UK
DEF510

Wistman's wood is a fascinating ancient forest, characterised by its gnarled, moss-covered oaks. Occupying a small area next to the West Dart river and surrounded by moorland, the wood was once much larger, covering most of the valley where it now sits. Devon's oldest woodland, it is home to 47 species of moss and over 100 types of lichen covering the twisted trees and rocks.
